About Artist

I pay attention to my nightly dreams, and have had many mystical or visionary experiences during my life—some bidden, some not. Creating collage allows me to meditate on and explore their symbols and archetypes, the language of the collective unconscious, while honoring these numinosities. Many of my collage pieces come into being this way.

Also, I love to play with color and juxtapose images that strike me as intriguing, paradoxical and/or provocative—in an effort to evoke meaning and highlight the mystery of life.

In 2004 I earned a Master’s degree in East-West Psychology from the School of Consciousness Studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. While doing coursework there, visions involving the homeless led to a powerful heart opening and an ego death of sorts, when I realized on a deep level that We are all One. Not long after graduation I began a career managing non-profits seeking to help unhoused individuals and families as well as those with substance abuse and/or mental health challenges. Now 20+ years later, I’ve retired to pursue art and beauty—within and without.

I’m a native of far northern California, but I’ve also lived for long periods in Alaska, Washington State and Peru. But now I’m in Eugene and love it! If not working on collage, reading or cooking, I love spending as much time as possible in solitude in the wilds—that’s the other way I recharge my batteries.

Recycled “coffee table books” and calendars are my go to for use in my hand-cut collage. They take time to come to life—as I don’t have unlimited images to work with—so they often sit and wait for just the right image to join the others and make things happen. I meticulously hand cut each image, and color each edge.
